Signature resizer workspace

Everything runs on your device. Your image never leaves this page.

1 · Upload & edit

Drag & drop your signature here
or click to browse · JPEG, PNG, WebP · max 15 MB

No scan handy? Test-drive the tool first.
Crop (optional, centered by default)
Drag on the preview to draw your crop — drag inside to move, corners to resize. The % fields stay in sync for precise keyboard control.

2 · Size & format

Target file size
Select a size below or enter a custom limit.
A file-size limit means the result must be at or below this size — not exactly this size. We never pad files with junk data.

JPEG does not preserve transparency — transparent areas become white.

Darkens faint pencil or grey scans while keeping paper white. Original look is preserved at 0. Fixes crooked phone photos. Output dimensions stay exact.
Enhance
−100 color = black & white · +100 = vibrant. Filters apply to the processed preview and download — never to your original.

How it works

  1. Upload your signature — or try a sample.Scan or photograph on white paper, drop the file above, or test-drive with one click.
  2. Set dimensions, file-size limit & enhance.Match your form's notification — e.g. 20 KB max, JPEG — then crop by dragging, darken faint ink or straighten.
  3. Inspect 1:1, download & verify.Check sharpness at full pixels, download, and confirm size and readability before uploading to the portal.

Everything you need for a valid signature upload

Exact-target-size compression

Smart re-encoding hits your KB limit and verifies the real file size — never just an estimate.

Custom dimensions

Set width and height in pixels, lock aspect ratio, and avoid accidental upscaling.

Signature cropping

Trim borders with a centered default crop and a live preview before export.

White-background cleanup

Flatten onto white for cleaner scans. Original look is preserved unless you opt in.

Multiple output formats

Export JPEG, PNG or WebP with format-aware controls and honest transparency notes.

Ink cleanup, filters & straighten

Darken faint scans, try black-and-white or vibrant looks, fix crooked photos, then inspect at 1:1.

Browser-based privacy

Resizing and compression happen on your own device, inside this page. Nothing is uploaded.

Choosing signature dimensions, formats and file-size limits

Most Indian application portals publish three numbers: required dimensions in pixels, maximum file size in KB, and accepted formats. There is no single universal rule — always check the official notification or advertisement for your exam or job posting.

  • Dimensions: signature scans are often wider than tall (e.g. 350×150 px). Keep aspect ratio locked to avoid stretched signatures.
  • File size: common limits are 10 KB, 20 KB, 50 KB or 100 KB maximum. "20 KB" means ≤ 20 KB, not exactly 20 KB.
  • Format: JPEG is the most widely accepted for uploads. Use PNG only when the portal lists it; JPEG flattens transparency to white.
  • Quality: start near quality 80 for JPEG/WebP. If the file is still too large, reduce dimensions slightly rather than dropping quality below ~40.
  • Scan tips: sign with black ink on plain white paper, scan at 200 DPI or photograph in daylight, then crop borders before compressing.
  • Faint scans: pencil or grey-ballpoint signatures can be darkened with an ink-cleanup control; a black-and-white preset suits portals that scan-print forms.
  • Crooked photos: a small rotation (a degree or two) levels phone-camera shots. Verify the baseline looks straight in a 1:1 inspection before submitting.
  • Final check: compare the tool's reported dimensions, format and verified file size against the official notification — requirements vary by exam and year.

Frequently asked questions

How do I resize my signature online?

Upload your image above, set the required width, height and maximum KB, then choose Process & Download. The tool resizes in your browser and verifies the output before download.

How do I resize a signature to 20KB?

Select the 20 KB preset (or type 20 in the maximum-size field), keep JPEG output, then process. The tool iteratively adjusts quality — and dimensions if you allow — until the file is at or below 20 KB, then reports the verified size.

Which signature format should I use?

Use whatever your application notification specifies — usually JPEG. PNG supports transparency but produces larger files; WebP is smaller but not accepted by every portal.

How can I change signature dimensions?

Enter width and height in pixels. Keep "Maintain aspect ratio" on to avoid distortion. Upscaling is off by default because enlarging a small scan reduces sharpness.

Can I resize a signature without losing quality?

Any resize or lossy compression changes pixels, so "lossless resize" is not an honest claim. To preserve quality: avoid upscaling, crop first, and keep quality as high as possible while staying under the limit.

My scanned signature looks faint. How do I darken it?

Upload it, then raise the Ink cleanup slider until the strokes look solid. It darkens ink while keeping the paper white — no forced black-and-white filter. Check the result with Inspect 1:1 before downloading.

How do I convert my signature to black and white?

Choose the Black & White preset in the Enhance panel. It mixes true grayscale with a little contrast and sharpening so strokes stay crisp. Note the result is still a grayscale image, not a pure two-colour threshold — fine for every portal that accepts image uploads.

How do I straighten a crooked signature photo?

Move the Straighten slider between −15° and +15° until the baseline looks level. The output is re-fitted so your pixel dimensions stay exact, and the live preview shows the correction immediately.

How can I sharpen a blurry signature scan?

Raise the Sharpen slider and inspect at 1:1. Light sharpening recovers edge definition from slightly soft scans — but it cannot invent detail a very blurry photo never captured, so re-scanning beats heavy sharpening. Also try the Scanner clean preset, which combines brightness, contrast and sharpening for grey scans.

How do I crop my signature by dragging?

Tick Enable custom crop, then drag directly on the crop preview: drag empty space to draw a box, drag inside it to move, drag the corner handles to resize. The percentage fields mirror every drag for precise keyboard control, and the processed preview updates when you release.

Can I try the signature resizer without uploading anything?

Yes — click Try a sample signature under the upload box. A demo signature loads through the full pipeline so you can experiment with dimensions, KB targets, cropping and filters before using your own scan.

Is my signature uploaded to a server?

No. Everything — decoding, cropping, resizing, export — runs inside this page in your own browser. Replacing or clearing the file discards it from memory immediately.

How do I know whether my signature meets an exam's requirements?

Compare the tool's reported dimensions, format and verified file size against the official notification. Requirements vary by exam and year, so the notification is the only authoritative source.
